The Republic
221 Cedar Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55454
Pros:Best burgers in twin cities, 3 types of patty: Beef, turkey, black bean, Outdoor seating, pretty large beer selection.
Cons:Poor view (looking at a busy intersection or a hotel), Severs were a bit slow with the water refills.
The Republic, with its clever logo design to highlight that it is a “pub”, is a fabulous place located at 7 Corners in Minneapolis just off highway 35W.
I discovered it on one of my pre-class dinners. My friend and I would meet regularly for dinner prior to my evening classes and after his day classes. The burger I had made such an impression that I knew I had to bring Molly to try one of the burgers; which all come as either grass-fed beef, turkey or black bean.
Molly set her {healthy} heart on a turkey and I, of course, chose beef. We took a few minutes to discuss which versions would go well with the different meats.
I settled on the Brie and red wine reduction:
Molly went with Garlic Confit with tomato aioli:
You can easily taste the real ingredients they use. They make their food from scratch…even the ketchup!
If you’re in the mood for a nice summer meal outside, Republic is a great choice. It also happens to be within walking distance of the Viking’s stadium so also makes for a great pre-or-post game meal.
Have you been to Republic? What did you think?

Sounds yummy and burgers look yummy.
I saw the Nook on Triple D again…rebuilt after a recent fire. Those stuffed cheeseburgers still look awesome.
Corey – I still need to try the Nook. I’ve had Matt’s Bar (good) and the 5-8 Club (aweful). I suspect you’ll see a Nook review before the end of summer!
This place sounds great!! I’ll have to try it if I”m ever up there again…
